Elegant Disasters

I got an email from Mrs. Faust last night, confirming that we'll be going back to Stone Harbor this summer during the first week in August. In the dead of Winter, with nothing but freezing temperatures on the horizon, summer vacation seems years away.I captured this beautiful storm over the ocean last year in Stone Harbor while unsuccessfully attempting to photograph a sunrise.

In the Spotlight

Although there isn't much to this photograph, I really like this one. It was taken Saturday night at a friend's wedding. I was sitting behind the parents of the bride as they were giving a short speech to the videographer, whose camera had a spotlight on the front of it.

The Impending Storm

Christmas and New Years were wonderful, but now they're over. There's a long, cold winter ahead of us. I'm determined to keep shooting, keep getting out, and not just shut down shop for the winter like I usually do. Once I kick this current cold, I plan on heading out to shoot some sunrises - freezing temperatures be damned.There's no need to come back to life in the Spring if you never die in the Winter.

Dear Nellie

Our family got an early holiday present when my oldest brother Jonathan showed up on Christmas Eve and announced that he and Nellie had gotten engaged. Jonathan had put out a personal ad with the proposal in the South Philly Review on Wednesday, knowing that Nellie would read the paper and find it. Everyone is excited to have Nellie join the family, and even more excited for another 2010 wedding. Congratulations guys!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Thank you to everyone out there who followed along with these holiday photos for the last month. I know I didn't exactly post EVERY day like I said I was going to, but I did come pretty close, and it was fun trying to come up with an image each day. This particular image was taken last month, and is the image that Genevieve and I used on our Christmas cards that we sent to friends and family.I hope that every has a safe, enjoyable, and memorable holidays. I will do my best to keep posting between now and New Years, so stay tuned.

This is a shot taken on Sunday morning, outside of our apartment. We spent almost an hour digging out Genevieve's car that day - it was plowed in pretty good.

Let it Snow

Last night, the east coast was hit with a major storm. Here in Central Jersey, we ended up with over a foot of snow. While most people were staying in and staying warm, a sizable group of South Plainfielders trudged our way into the city for the 5th annual SP Holiday Gala. As always, the event was a huge success, and it continues to be something to look forward to each Christmas season. At some point in the night, I snapped this shot of Bob and Brian outside in the snow.

The Trophy Room

One of my good friends, Ted, is a chef at the Plainfield Country Club. Last night, the country club held their annual Christmas party for employees, so Ted invited Genevieve and I to tag along. The party was great - good food, open bar, etc. I took this shot of Genevieve lounging in the Trophy Room at some point in the evening.

I took this image around this time last year, on 96th Street in Stone Harbor, NJ. These coastal-themed wreaths were hanging in several different spots around town. I wish I had one to hang in my apartment.
